Klimakleber – Next Generation

Concept Art, 3D Prints, Campaign, Acrylics
~ 25 × 25 × 21 cm  |  2025

The Next Generation is a series of sculptures that pays homage to the activists of the Last Generation, who have fallen into disrepute as Klimakleber, and is the consistent continuation of their mission through the means of art. According to leading climate researchers, we can expect catastrophic consequences within 25 years if we continue to ignore the dilemma.

The sculptures of this series are motivational reminders of the climate apocalypse. Glue these artworks everywhere where people urgently need to be reminded of the impending climate crisis, so that desperate young people no longer have to glue themselves onto public spaces.*

To be honest, I was looking forward to making the provocative claim here that climate activism might still have succeeded in late state capitalism, had it been organized and presented in a more commodity-like manner. One could have exploited the so-called fetish character of the commodity to launch the cause in a way that made it more attractive and desirable to the public. Accordingly, I envisioned staging my Klimaklebers as the streamlined product line of a dynamic brand, presented in the native look and feel of a shopping ecosystem. In the form of a subscription model with a multi-tiered bonus checklist, the product would entice users to unlock ever-greater benefits, and of course, a substantial portion of the proceeds would go to commendable charity projects. In this setup, a sharp critique of consumerism and existing market conditions could also have been incorporated:

However, as usual my interest in the matter vanished as soon as it came to the workload technical implementation and monetizing of my work. That’s why you won’t find a functioning shop here for the time being, but you’re welcome to download the uncommercial grassroots DIY versions of the items and them paint yourself or, in urgent cases, please contact me personally.
